Through volunteer work, you will get a unique opportunity to practice your Arabic skills, learn about the local community and make new contacts and friends. The Arabic language and culture are not simply learnt in the class room; you need to live the language and immerse in the local community. Volunteer work is an entrance to the Lebanese society. It is also a means to contribute to important development work.
Volunteer work usually entails a few hours of work every week, besides your Arabic language classes. The organisations work with social and human development, aiming at improving the lives of vulnerable children/youth, elderly people, disabled, among others. It is also possible to engage in teaching, for example teaching English, or another foreign language, to children/youths.
Volunteering in Lebanon means living and working alongside local people and gaining a better understanding of the Lebanese dialect, culture, and the social and environmental conditions.
